Welcome to Sol-land's new web site!
The goals of the website are to promote the lodge, promote our heritage,
and be a useful resource for members.
Another aim is to have a high quality resource that other lodges will want to
link to.
Big changes are planned for our lodge website. As you can tell by the
new look, many changes have already been made. More importantly, though
are the changes that are still planned:
- The visual appeal of the site will be expanded with the addition of lots of pictures and graphics to make this an interesting place for lodge members and the general public to visit.
- An entire section on culture is in the works. This section should encompass a variety of topics such as holidays, clothing, food, famous Norwegians, language and even a little bit of history. This will obviously take some time to do the research and make it a quality job, so check back often.
- Related to food, a Scandinavian recipes page is planned. Many of the links and recipes on the page will be pulled from many of the great resources already available on the web. At some point, it would be great to have the lodge members contibute family recipes in the style of the midwestern church cookbook.
- A book section will be in the works to help us share some great Norwegian related books and even provide our opinions on them!
- Although a calendar page is now up, it will be expanded in the near future to be very extensive with links from the calendar to a page about each event, as well as the ability to view all the months in the year.
If you have any questions please e-mail them to webmaster@sol-land.org. There is a need for good pictures of various lodge activities to post on the site. If you have any, please e-mail them to the above address, or provide them to DJ Watson.
