Events Throughout the Year

Lutefisk Dinner (first Saturday of February)
This event has become extremely popular in the Tri-Cities, with 2009 being our biggest year yet! The Lutefisk dinner is served to the public, restaurant style and allows people of all ages to sample that famous Norwegian food: lutefisk. Other Scandinavian cuisine is served as well, including Norwegian meatballs, Lefse and a wide variety of traditional cookies and pastries.


Sytennde Mai Celebration (3rd Friday in May)

Summer Picnic (Varies)
Every summer Sol-land lodge has a summer picnic. In 2010, it will also serve as our midsummer celebration (click here to learn more about midsummer). A committee will be formed to plan this year's picnic and activities to make this year's picnic an activity to be remembered for both young and old!

Nordic Fest (October 2010)
(click here for the Nordic Fest 2007 page) This biennial event brings a taste of Scandinavia to the Tri-Cities with entertainment, dancing, and traditional foods. A large number of vendors come from around the region to provide authentic scandinavian goods, and SAS Airlines provides a a round trip to Norway raffle prize. Be sure not to miss this exciting event at the Benton County Fairgrounds!


Thanksgiving Celebration (November)
Our November meeting includes a Thanksgiving style dinner in addition to the regular cultural presentation. The 2009 Thanksgiving celebration had turkey and stuffing provided, with members and guests bringing the side dishes.


Jule Celebration (December)
(Click here for the Christmas 2009 page) This event, open to the public, is our lodge's formal celebration commemorating Yule (Christmas -- read more about Christmas traditions). There is a dinner, followed by traditional songs and music and a St. Lucia procession (read more about the St. Lucia Holiday).


Sol-Land Scholarship
The Lodge sponsors a scholarship award to a local high school senior every year.

We also actively sponsor and support summer youth camps that teach language and crafts skills. Money is raised for these activities through bazaars and bake sales. Contact Ginger Fields (734-7876) for more information.
