in Seattle and how the Scandinavians (Norwegians, Swedes, Finns, Icelanders, and Danes) were involved.
AND brainstorm project ideas to celebrate with in 2009! Scandinavian organizations from California to
Alaska took part in this event! Maybe your lodge or group did, too!

ANNUAL CRAB FEED AND SILENT AUCTION
Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001 Scholarship Fund presents its annual Crab feed and silent auction and after
dinner dance to the music of Miles from Chicago. Melissa Anderson, our 2007 District 2 Youth Camp
Counselor/Instructor scholarship recipient will be our guest speaker telling of her adventures at
all three District 2 camps!
Saturday, January 26 - 6PM
Tickets are $25 for adults ($30 if tickets purchased after Tuesday, January 22), $12 for students or children 13 and under $10 for dance only. Proceeds benefit the Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001 Scholarship Fund which supports instructors/counselors at District 2 Youth Camps of Sons of Norway, young leaders in the community and attendees to District 2 Youth Camps of Sons of Norway. Tickets available in the Leif Erikson Hall Office (206-783-1274) or send a self addressed stamped envelope with a check made out to the LEL Scholarship Fund indicating whether you want crab (whole with everything inside or cleaned) or Cornish Game Hen to:

Professor Terje I. Leiren (Sverre Arestad Endowed Professor in Norwegian Studies ~ Chair, Department of Scandinavian Studies at the University of Washington) talks about the story told within the murals at Leif Erikson Hall. More info to follow.

SWEDISH MUSIC, FOOD AND DANCING
There are some things good about the dollar going down and that is all the dancers and musicians from Norway and Sweden who want to come here! Saturday, February 16, 2008, 6PM: Norwegian/Swedish cultural evening with Grannar from Malmo Sweden. Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001 Sons of Norway and Swedish Cultural Center host an evening of music by the Swedish trio Grannar, food and dancing at Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001 for the annual exchange with the Swedish Cultural Center on February 16, 2008, starting at 6PM. Traditional Norwegian/Swedish light winter meal fare and social hour is being offered between the concert by Grannar with dancing to their music following the meal.
The evening is $15 for members of the sponsoring organizations Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway, Swedish Cultural Center, and Skandia Folkdance Society. Non members are $18 for the evening.

Starts at the hall! Join in the fun and get a Norwegian flag to carry along and a waffle at the end of the race. Prizes, too, for best time and more. Applications available soon. Part of the proceeds will go to the Sons of Norway Foundation Humanitarian Fund.
